A little lost boy

A little lost boy

We have all seen then wander in the streets looking hungry and pale
Dodging traffic and cops, you know the ones who have no heart and want to put them away
We know they are homeless and many are orphaned so in the streets they live to survive life
These kids, they are invisible to the people who walk by them every day and turn their heads as they close their eyes so their conscience won’t play games
Pretending to not see them, as they reach their outstretched hands out hoping for a little pay and compassion along the way

A little boy who looked so lost, with tennis shoes too big for his feet, slightly torn and worn out mostly for walking the streets
His hair a mess, I must confess, he couldn’t have looked more than ten, it not a day over and skinny legs that looked like twigs
His frazzled raggedly worn out clothes, his runny nose, his face was covered with dirt and his bruises looks like he had been kicked
Where he slept in the street or in a box, we really never know for a night they disappear into a dumpster, a box or anything else they can find, just to keep they dry or warm

No grown up in sight, the little boy looked lost and must have traveled all through the night as his lips were chapped and dry
His eyes were weary, there were tears running down his cheeks, 1 per cent water, 99 per cent sadness as he looked like he had cried
This boy, so young and so old, knew how to survive but didn’t have a dime to his name to eat and nobody knows his name
So when you see this lost little boy, walking on the lonely streets, reach into your pockets deep, and give from the heart, in heaven’s name

Homeless Kids in the USA

Old Age - a poem

Old Age

Oh, with trembling hands, I feel the cane a shaking
With some difficulty, I can feel my feet struggle when I am walking
Yet, without my love for life, I would not even survive
This body of mine, getting old and delicate, has done its time

The time when I was young is still fresh in my mind
The way I liked to dance and listen to the music, so long ago
And remember how it has soothed my soul, my heart and my rhythms of life
And praying real hard, another decade I shall survive

My skin no long smooth, it is becoming some found some wrinkle
But up above I can still see the Milky Way and all the bright stars twinkle
My eyes do suffer a little bit at night, as they are worn and fading
But during the day, my sunlight is still bright, making me smile
So I feel my body ache, my body is shaking as I walk each precious mile

Each mile I take with each step it takes, I risk another bone breaking
And in the end, my life has been complete and none of it was faking
No matter how much pain I can bear, in the end I cannot let it be defeat
And if the gates of heaven should open and start calling my name
I know I can get there without struggling or falling, even without my cane

For my ears will always listen for the trumpet’s sound
And my heart will know it is the nature of the call that is profound
A chance for heaven, a chance for bliss, there is no way, I am taking the chance to miss
That heavenly journey up into the sky, never questioning my time, never asking why
I shall take a deep breath, my heart will beat once more, and then, I sleep and die
And make me a promise, my dear family and friends, for me, you will not cry
